A delightful soul shared this quote with me this week. So appropriate. Thanks, K!

a new life
I woke up this morning. Unemployed. Wow. A little sad but with an overwhelming sense of calm. Thanks, God!
Today, I begin my new life. Complete, true, optimistic, bright, fun...and hopefully a little crafty.
I'm embracing the joy. Embracing my awesome family. Embracing picking up Young Boy from school this afternoon. Embracing my real friends. Embracing a bright, new, undiscovered future. Life is good.
Hmm...what to do now. Sit on the couch and enjoy a few bon-bons? Not a chance!

a perfectly fine friday...and then
Oh Friday, you know how I love you. Oh Friday, you know how I love you even more when it's Autumn and there's fun stuff to do while Young Boy is at school. Yep, today was a perfectly fine Friday. Sweet Sister & I took a 2-hr. road trip. Ahh, pretty leaves, tractors out in the fields, the perfectly perfect Friday morning.
Our destination? The McMaster & Storm Studio Sale. Tell me, how do you make a little shed look like a lovely brick & mortar store? Well, Kara & Darcy can do it! This little sale did not disappoint!
Right in here is where it happened. The phone rang. It's school. "Your son just threw up on the steps...can you come pick him up?" Well, what's a gal to do when she's two hours away? Call Daddy, of course.
Sweet Sister & I decided we must push on. Carry on with our adventure. The McMaster & Storm ladies had recommended some fun stops, so we felt the need to oblige. First stop, two antique stores...well, junking stores. I got some buttons...and a snip of crocheted lace.
Second stop, this crazy-cool Ben Franklin store. Straight outta the 50s, it was retro. It was a throwback. From hair nets to candy to underwear to fake flowers, they had all of your old-fashioned needs.
Then on to Bear's Mill. Beautiful building inside & out. Granted, I was carrying a little Mom guilt around with me there.
Last stop (well, really it wasn't the last stop. The last stop was the KitchenAid store, but I didn't take any photos there.) Lunch. Sweet Sister knew of a "famous dive" in the area. Mmm hmm. Our family gets excited visiting little greasy spoons.
What made this establishment oustanding? Look for it...
Yep, a GUM wall. Crazy stuff.
All in all...a lovely day! I'm thankful for it. It's now 2:30am and I'm snuggling my sick-boy on the couch. Daggone it, life is good.

A pretty night. A great cause. Sincerest thanks to everyone that supported our walk for this ultra-worthy organization!
I've never seen so many blinky-red balloons...quite a sight!

fall at french hen farm
Those uber-creative gals over at French Hen Farm have done it again! If you live near Marysville, OH...run, don't walk on over to this sale. (On Fladt Road. If you find Fladt Rd., you'll find it, I promise.) They're there 'til 5 today and open again tomorrow at 9am.
I was thinking how lucky I am to live so close to such a lovely event! Thanks for sharing your awesome farm with our community, Linda!
One of my little purchases that makes me smile. The 10 Commandments. The first one...Thou shalt have no other gods buts me.

frantic friday
Ahh, Friday...I'm excited that you're here. You will be a busy one today, getting ready for the Light the Night Walk tomorrow, crafting up a storm for Sunday's craft show, making Beef Barley Soup in the crockpot...and the highlight, running over to sneak a peek at French Hen Farm's fall sale (where I promise to be good and only purchase gifts for the holidays!)
I took a vacation day yesterday to have my own little Craft-a-Palooza. I was in a groove, having a great time making some recycled wool scarves when it happened. My little trusty sewing machine (that I paid 50 bucks for, twenty years ago) died. It locked up and died...right in the middle of my third scarf. Well, what's a gal to do but run to the (dreaded) WalMart and get herself a new one.
Since I really just pretend to sew, I purchased a beginner machine that Martha recommended (she did, her picture's right on the box!) What threw my decision over the top was that you get a free one-year subscription to her magazine. Well, that's worth it, right? Yep, so I'll be breaking in my new little machine today. We'll see how it goes.
In the meantime, here's a snap of some goodies that we'll have at the North Market on Sunday. Happy weekend, all!
