Maybe I'm getting old...I grew up in this county and have lived here most of my life. But it's taken me awhile to appreciate the sincere beauty that's around us. This morning on my walk to the garden, I was struck by the lovliness of the freshly-sprouting cornfield next door.

garage sales & the tale of two cards

Wow. I'm beat. Friday & Saturday, sweet sister & I had a garage sale. I am kindly reminded of how much work they are. Whew, glad that's over!

Went to a vintage holiday show today...I've never seen so many antique Belsnickels and Halloween candy pails in my life! Pretty fun stuff, but pricey. A couple of Christmas postcards later, I was a happy camper to go home with a little treat.

Stopped at Barnes & Noble to pick up 2 quick greeting cards. TEN dollars for TWO cards, seriously!? So...came home and was inspired to MAKE some cards.

Recently, a friend gifted me with some new acrylic stamp sets. I've been stamping on muslin, then embroidering...it's so much fun!

Walmart Lady: "Is that your grandbaby?"

Me: Looking puzzled...?

Walmart Lady: "There, on your necklace."

Me: Oh, um...no.

Walmart Lady: "Well who is it then?"

Me (I was so flustered that I said something like): "Oh, it's just my
"made-up" baby, I guess..."

Walmart Lady: "Well at least you ain't gotta feed 'er."

There's a gal in our area that has THE best garage sales...every year, I can't wait to see her ad in the paper. Last year, they built a gorgeous red barn on their property and every time I drive by, I secretly covet it. Last night, while scouring the garage sale ads, there it was...her ad.

Only this year, it was in THE new big red barn and when you stepped inside, it was like you were walking into a magazine shoot. Absolutely. Beautiful.

I overheard that these lovely gals in Marysville, OH will just be opening up the barn for seasonal sales, and that the next sale may be in September. (No website yet.)
