silver bella part 3...shopping in the old market

Silver Bella wouldn't be complete without the shopping. The event is held right in the Old Market area and the shopping is awesome. Two of my favorites, Trinis in the Passageway (for Mexican food) and Second Chance Antiques for more antiques squished into one building than you can sneeze at...and they have kitties in the store that you can pet while you shop! Will let the photos of my walking excursion in the Old Market speak for themselves.

So, 'til next November...

d.a.r.e. graduation

This week, Young Boy's class (along with 3 other area Christian schools) had their fifth grade D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) graduation.
Many thanks to Deputy Kim and Deputy Jim for their positive efforts in our community!

Total Proud Mom Moment.

I know that you'll make good decisions throughout your life, Sweet Boy.

silver bella part 2...the prom (& vendor faire)

Friday night, one of the best parts of Silver Bella...the shopping! Vintage crafty goodness, all in one place. It's a sight to behold!

These first 2 shots are from the sugar sugar booth.

These giant pattern-tissue paper flowers were so pretty!

Curious Sofa booth...

Jenni Bowlin's cool button cards...

Oh my...and the attendees. Some went all out and shopped in their prom dresses!
The pink-beehived, very cute Amy Powers of Inspire Co.

And, the littlest bella...how cute is she!?

silver bella part 1...the classes

They sure know how to have fun in Omaha! Returned yesterday from the annual creative brain-charge-trek to Silver Bella and am mentally exhausted (in such a good way). The instructors...the participants...the ENERGY was unbelievable. Thank you Teresa for this over-the-top event!
So here are some snippets of my creations along with links to the awesome, oh-so-generous, knowledgeable & talented teachers...THANK YOU to each of them for their kindness, encouragement and well-orchestrated classes!

First up...Prada Schmada with Charlotte Lyons. Talk about one sweet and gracious lady...such a wonderful teacher. Love her books!

Home for the Holidays with Pam Garrison. What I loved about Pam is that she's ever-encouraging...holding up others' work and praising them to the class...very inspiring!

Tiny Treasures with Jenni Bowlin. Oh my word...love Jenni's papers, stamps & style!

Prayer Collage with Rebecca Sower. Totally enjoy her blog and her love for all things fabric and vintage...what a talented soul!

And lastly, Better Backgrounds with Carolyn Peeler. Even in the midst of a classroom move (while we were painting!) Carolyn was cool, calm & collected. Her collage work is amazing!

Thanks again ladies for the shot of creative mojo!

See you next week!

This might just become my new favorite magazine. Makes me feel cool just looking at it. Eccentric, exciting & eco-friendly...elated to find this one!

farm auction

Farm auctions...I love 'em.

Went with my dad and sister to a goodie this weekend. An old farmhouse, an estate auction...lots of farmers and local folks. Wagons and buildings full of "stuff." I love peeking around and imagining the memories behind all of these things. The lady of this house was a cake decorator, as evidenced by many shaped cake pans and decorating tips. She must've also had quite the homemaking skills as there were boxes and boxes of canning jars.

The things that were there had all been lovingly used and it seemed to me that this was a thrifty family that took pleasure in the simple things...lessons we could take a cue from.

A great day...thanks for waiting around for the last box of jewelry to sell, Dad!
