introducing...paper deli

Doesn't it just make your heart sing when you see someone following their dream? A very sweet friend, Michelle is having a trunk show at the uber-happening store, Bloomsbury Loft through November 28th. Tonight was the Holiday Open House and Michelle was all aglow. She makes the most fabulous wine bags, message boards, gift card holders & what-not vintage ribbon jars that you ever have seen!

The perfect treats, just in time for holiday giving. Her etsy shop is brand-spanking new, so let's show her some love and mark her shop a favorite! Congratulations, Michelle!

it's here!

I was jumping up & down when the FedEx man dropped this box by! I ran into the kitchen and cracked open the big box...it's here! The first-ever cupcake studio calendar. And, if I do say so myself, it's soooo pretty!
Mary, yes, those are your cookies!

If you'd like a little bit of cupcake studio to hang in your kitchen, office or craft room you can find them here. Happy day!

turkey, tags...and a kitty

If you're a regular reader, well then you know that I'm a big fan of the church food.

Sunday night, an annual tradition since I was a kid, we all packed up and went to the St. Paul's Turkey Supper. We go to church at St. John's, but it's okay to go to St. Paul's for the turkey 'cause they're good Lutherans over there too. You've gotta love the real china plates and the sweet, aproned ladies who serve it up. Goodness, was it delicious (and the food wasn't green, can I blame that on the lighting?)
So what's on tap for this week? Getting ready for our little church bazaar this weekend. Today was Tag Day and I think I'll declare tomorrow Felted Wool Day.
And...I learned something new today. Apparently, this is what one of our crazy kitties, Texas does all day. No wonder he races through the house while we're all sleeping. Have a happy week all!

lisa's soup

A very sweet friend shared this yummy recipe with me. I tried it last weekend...it was SO good, that I've already made another pot! Here it is, in her own words.

Lisa's White Bean & Olive Soup
6 cups of water
add # of chicken boullion cubes according to the directions on the packet
pour in 2 generous seconds worth of olive oil
add three cubed potatoes
(all while bringing to a boil)
add one can of sliced olives, along with all of the olive juice
add two cans of white beans
5 shakes of garlic powder (taste)
add salt, nickel size in the palm of your hand (taste)
two shakes onion powder (taste)
three shakes lawry's salt (taste)
four shakes of worchestershire sauce bottle (taste)
twelve shakes of smokey tabasco chipotle sauce (taste)
(usually i'd add ground pepper but i ran out!)

Personally, I think it's all about the smokey tabasco sauce...mmm! Seriously, try it.

a happy halloween

It was a happy Halloween indeed. Saturday took us to the little town of Wapakoneta for a karate seminar.Yep, Young Boy even smiles when he's having his arm & wrist twisted around!
A neat little town, that Wapakoneta...
and it has a really nice antique mall. Can I just say how I love some great merchandising by color.

Then it was a quick stop at one of my dad's favorite haunts, Gray's Orange Barn. We left with Amish cheese, wasabi peas and gummi bears.

That evening, thanks to Sweet Sister, we enjoyed handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters at her house. She made the most beautiful caramel apples and Mom brought scalloped potatoes & ham...yum!

This was our favorite costume of the night...this kid was a movie theater floor. Pretty funny.
Then on to the pumpkin carving where the competitive folk carved a pumpkin. My sister is serious about her work.

And my Dad...seriously, no one likes a good pumpkin-carving competition (or Easter-egg coloring contest!) like he does!
So, Young Boy gets his spirit of competition honestly.
