good & gracious

This is the second time it's happened this summer...a warm, freshly baked pie shared with us by our sweet neighbor, Florence.

Shade & Florence used to live in our house, now they live just across the yard and we try our best to love their old farmhouse as best we can with our busy schedules. Florence has THE greenest thumb that you've ever seen and her flowers and fruit trees are the envy of our country road.

This summer, our son started mowing their grass. (Um, 'cause they're both well over 80 yrs. old, and it's the least we can do. Up until last year, Shade mowed the grass every Friday morning, like clockwork.) Last week, we helped them pick apples from the "high" branches on their tree and this flaky, warm, cinnamon-y pie was our thanks! Homemade, with apples from their tree, Florence can make a lovely pie!

It's a blessing that in this day & age, good, old-fashioned 'neighboring' still exists. For this, we are truly thankful!

the county fair

One 10-yr. old little boy.

One sheep, one proud Papa, a trophy and a big blue ribbon.

A county-fair cook-off.

A memorable week!
